Grandma Bev’s Pecan Pie

So… hello there! You might have been wondering what I actually filled my pie crust with the other day (two weeks ago! eek!) after my misadventures in pie crust making. It was pecan pie! My Grandma Bev was known for her pies, especially her pecan pie. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, it would make an appearance at the table. And wow, was it good. So to honor my dear grandma, I thought I would share with you her epic pecan pie recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I have over the years.

This pie is very good and very rich. But it has nuts in it so it’s probably a health food of some sort. A girl can dream. 😉

So what goes into this amazing pecan pie? Well, I’m glad you asked. Here are the ingredients:

Sugar, eggs, dark corn syrup, pecans, vanilla extract, and melted butter!

Then you mix it all up together into a delightful, sweet concoction like so:

And then you take your lovely homemade (or store bought – no judging here!) pie crust:

And then put all your pie ingredients into your uncooked pie crust:

Bake it all together for a good long while and then when you take it out, it should look a little somethin’ like this.

All done! And amazing.

Now go make some pecan pie so you can impress your friends. And better yet, eat it with your friends, too, because if you eat this whole thing all by yourself,  your taste buds will be thrilled, but your pancreas may give out on you. 🙂

Here’s the recipe:

Grandma Bev’s Pecan Pie
1 cup dark corn syrup
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 ounces pecans
1 unbaked pie crust

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 4 ingredients together thoroughly. Fold in pecans. Pour into your unbaked pie crust. Bake at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes. Enjoy, because it’s amazing.
